Spring Capsule Wardrobe 2023

I’ve been building a capsule wardrobe for a couple of years now, and now that I know what I know, I’ll never go back to my old ways. I’ve shared multiple posts about winter, fall, spring & summer capsule wardrobes in the past, be sure to check those out too! The beautiful thing about a capsule wardrobe is that the pieces are meant to transcend “trendiness” and make life + getting dressed EASIER. The goal is to buy pieces that work together–think timeless staples you can utilize to build a gazillion outfit combinations! Typically, I include the following: pants (trousers, jeans, cargo pants), tops (basic tees, tanks, long sleeves), basic sweaters, neutral-colored jackets, and neutral accessories.

MYTHS ABOUT CAPSULE WARDROBES

Many people believe that capsule wardrobes are limited or boring. That said, they don’t have to be! You can buy as many pieces as you’d wish. Pick a number that works for you! The number of pieces in your wardrobe might be different from the next person & that’s okay. That said, most people aim for 20-40 pieces. Another myth about capsule wardrobes is that the pieces MUST be expensive. That’s also not true. While more expensive pieces tend to last longer, they’re not for everyone. Simply buy what you can afford!

Now, let’s dive into my picks for my 2023 SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE!

PANTS

When picking pants for your spring capsule wardrobe, pick a couple of denim jeans, trousers and a pair of cargo pants. For jeans, do a light wash & a dark wash. For trousers, pick a white or black pair. For cargo pants, go for a khaki or an olive green pair.

TOPS

For tops, you’ll want basics – think tees & long sleeves & tanks in plain, neutral colors. You’ll also want to mix in some sweaters for layering! Stripes are neutral, so feel free to include a striped sweater or tee. Blouses are always a good addition to the spring capsule too for those days when you need an elevated look!

JACKETS

I love to include a blazer, a denim jacket & a trench coat in my spring capsule wardrobe. Again, aim for neutral colors!

DRESSES

As with everything else in the capsule wardrobe, think simple! Black dresses, navy dresses and white dresses can be worn in many different ways. A t-shirt dress, a collared dress, and a puff sleeve dress are all wonderful options!

ACCESSORIES

Accessorizing is a MUST in my book. Accessories may not seem neutral, but they absolutely can be. Grab some plain gold or silver pieces (depending on your preference) and pick a couple of neutral colored bags–one black & one tan perhaps. I also like to have a black & tan belt on hand as well!
