Appropriate Yet Relevant Swimwear for Moms

Ladies, I feel you! Finding appropriate swimwear that’s still trendy in your mid 30’s, 40’s & beyond can feel like such a daunting task. We all have challenges when shopping for swimwear. Everyone has their concerning problem areas which makes shopping for unforgiving swimsuits a challenge. Whether it’s finding something that fits your body type, hiding your c-section scar, menopausal midsection, large chest, extra weight, or mastectomy.  Or, if you have teen boys, the last thing you want is to embarrass them at the pool/beach because you’re showing off too much of your goodies. Know what I mean.

Today, I will share swimwear I recommend that has great coverage and is age-appropriate, while still being relevant and trendy. Let’s dive into one-pieces, two-piece, coverups, high-end swim, and tummy control swim that has just the right amount of reveal! My recommendation is to order swimwear online to try in the comfort of your own home. Lighting is better and you can put your body into all sorts of contortions to make sure everything is in place and looks the way you want.

ONE-PIECE SWIMWEAR

The one-piece is definitely having a moment trend-wise. With one-piece swimsuits, the biggest thing to look at is bum coverage. A lot of one-pieces can come really high cut, and if that’s your thing – go for it! If you’re looking for a more modest one-piece, go for full coverage. Also, look at chest coverage if that’s something that’s important to you!

TRENDING & APPROPRIATE SWIMWEAR

ONE-PIECE SWIM FOR A SMALLER BUST LINE

Deep v- necks, halter style, ruffles, push-up style, and padding will add volume and give the illusion of a larger bust line.

ONE PIECE SWIM FOR A LARGE CHEST

My source for large chest swim recommendations comes from a friend who is a 32GG. She said the best thing to happen to swimwear is the bra-sized swimsuit. They are bathing suits with a built-in bras.

ONE-PIECE SWIMWEAR POST-MASTECTOMY

Mastectomy swimsuits typically include sewn-in breast pockets for prostheses. Additionally, higher necklines and armholes help hide scars and offer modest coverage.

TWO-PIECE SWIMWEAR

With a two-piece swim, my personal favorite options are high-waisted bottoms and square neckline tops. Again, just like with the one-piece swim – look for bottoms with enough bum coverage! There are a lot of cheeky bottoms out there, and that’s not my jam like it was 20 years ago! Saks Fifth Avenue, Cupshe, and Bloomingdale’s have a ton of great options. Check them out below!

TUMMY CONTROL SWIMWEAR

Do you need a swimsuit that hides your tummy like me? If you’re self-conscious about your tummy, there are a lot of great options.  I love the updated fabric and stretch in these suits.  I found a few great options that have a super cute ruching detail at the midsection.

COVER-UPS

Cover-ups are where it’s at! I basically have an arsenal of cover-ups just to change up my look up and feel comfortable running around. If you’re trying to cover your midsection, you can go with a coverup tunic, a coverup romper, or a kaftan. If covering your tush is your goal, try a sarong, pareo, linen shorts, or linen pants!
